I guess technically it blew down, but that doesn't really do it justice. It's more like the wind was so fierce the force of it uprooted the tree and laid it down in the front yard parallel to the road. The roots pulled out of the ground and the whole thing resting on its side. The thing with trees is that we can't fathom just how tall they are when they are upright. Our brains just don't work that way. It isn't until they are down at our level, where our human brains can compare and comprehend, that it's even possible to understand how big trees are.
