Winter allows us to see deeper. Literally. Only in the winter do I notice the house at the end of the long drive, bare branches welcoming my view. The bee hives in the low lands off the curve in the road. The bald eagle nest atop the edge of the woodlands. Otherwise hidden. The same goes for insides too. The instinctual telescoping into darkness, digging deep to see what is that I've overlooked before.
